Effective October 1, 2014 eligible non-Medicare primary NYSHIP enrollees and their dependents may receive the following preventive vaccines without copayment when administered by a licensed pharmacist at a pharmacy that participates in CVS Caremark's national vaccine network

  • Influenza-flu
  • Herpes Zoster-shingles (age 55 and over)
  • Pneumococcal-pneumonia
  • Meningococcal-meningitis
Keep in mind that you may still receive preventive vaccines with no copay from a participating provider's office.

 

 

Effective August 4, 2014, The First Rehabilitation Life Insurance Company of America has changed its name to Shelter Point Life Insurance Company. New forms are listed below.

 

Effective July 1, 2014 the District's group dental program will be with MetLife.

Dependent eligibility will be till age 26 with full time student status.

Plan year benefits will begin July 1st for all members.  This will allow members to refresh their $2000 benefit earlier than their original calendar year.

Keep in mind that the lifetime maximum for orthodontia would not be affected as prior claims paid history will be added to the member's record.

In regards to NYSHIP, HIP, Solstice/Davis Vision and Excess Major Medical coverage, dependent children are covered until age 26 and do not have to be full time students.

 

 

 

Please make sure you read through the recent mailing from NYSHIP "At a Glance".  This publication contains important updates regarding your coverage.

Such as,"Preventive care services covered under the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) with no copayment at a network hospital or from a participating provider include: bone density tests, colonoscopies, mammograms, pap smears, certain immunizations and certain preventive care and screenings for infants, children, adolescents and adults. Visit www.healthcare.gov for a compete list of preventive screenings and services." 

The publication also contains current co-payment amounts for prescriptions,the medical/surgical program, hospital services and the mental health and substance abuse program.
