When can my child start school?

Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) is a New York State funded program specifically designed for 4-year-olds not eligible for kindergarten. Each year, Webster Central School District invites eligible children who reside in the district to apply. Visit our web page in January for up-to-date information.

For kindergarten, children must be 5 years old on or before December 1 to be eligible to register.

New York State Education Law (Section 3205) states that children who turn 6 years old on or before December 1 are required to attend instruction in September of that school year.  Children who turn 6 years old after December 1 are required to attend school the following September.

Information about kindergarten registration will be available on the Central Registration webpage in January.
